Flamenco Fusion Dance (LVD) Sunday 12:30-2:00pm - All Levels
This class breaks away from the traditional flamenco structure and explores other dance and musical genre's. This
fun and pulsating class will merge flamenco steps and choreographies with jazz, theater and street dance.

Introduction to Flamenco Dance for Beginners Level I (KDC) Saturday 12:00-1:30pm -  no prior experience is needed
This Intro level class is for those just entering the world of flamenco dance, or those that would like a more basic understanding of the genre. Here is where students begin to learn the basic fundamentals of flamenco dance, focusing on arms, hands, posture, footwork and rhythm. Class hand outs will be given, to enhance your understanding of all the flamenco elements. In this class, we work on a flamenco choreography, with the option of performing with the DoS performance troupe upon the instructors approval. A new student usually continues in the intro level class for a year or more before they are ready to advance to the next level.

Beginning Flamenco Dance Level II (KDC) Monday 12:30-2:00pm - 6 or more months experience necessary, or with the consent of the instructor. This class is for students with flamenco dance experience, who are not quite ready for the intermediate level. Focus will be on basic flamenco dance techniques, such as brazeos/arms in the various flamenco positions, footwork combinations, floreo of the hands, palmas/clapping of the various flamenco rhythms/compas. Along with that, there will be an emphasis on universal dance techniques such as finding your center, body line and posture, and a variety of turn techniques. We will utilize these flamenco fundamentals, as we combine them into various dance combinations that will be set to a choreography. Sevillanas will be included as well as learning to play the castanets. With the instructors approval; students will have the option of performing with the Dos performance troupe.

Intermediate Flamenco Dance Level I (IBA) Wednesday 7:00-8:30pm - 2 years of experience necessary, or with the consent of the instructor. This class is for beginners who are further along in their flamenco studies. Students will learn how to play the castanets as part of their curriculum and will learn a choreography. With the instructors approval; students will have the option of performing with the Dos performance troupe.

Intermediate Flamenco Dance Level II (KDC) Saturday 1:30-3:00pm - 3 years of experience necessary, or with the consent of the instructor. Students may incorporate the castanets as part of the choreography they will be learning, therefore they should posses the ability to play with proficiency. With the instructors approval, students will also have the option of performing with the Dos performance troupe.

Advance Flamenco & Classical Spanish (IBA) Monday 7:30-9:00pm - 5 years of experience necessary, or with the consent of the instructor. This class is for the dancers with an intensive amount of flamenco experience. Castanets and playing proficiency is part of the curriculum, and may be incorporated in the choreographies; therefore practicing outside of class time is required to keep up with the high level of competency. This class will work on a flamenco choreography, and with the approval of the instructor; students will have the option of performing with the DoS performance troupe.

Recommended Class Attire:
Women -
Comfortable shirt or leotard, full skirt with tights, leggings or comfortable pants, and shoes with a sturdy heel (preferably with a strap). No shoes with spike heels, as we will be doing a lot of stomping!
Men - comfortable pants and shoes with a sturdy heel such as a boot.

Online and Local Stores -
Students may purchase flamenco practice skirts and "amateur" flamenco shoes locally for $60-70 at Petticoat Junction 14523 Highway 99 in Lynnwood. However, it's recommended that students new to flamenco should hold off from purchasing flamenco shoes, until they are sure they want to commit to their flamenco dance classes. After such commitment is made, continueing students will need to invest in a pair of "professional" flamenco shoes from a source which Jackie will recommend.

Dances of Spain (DoS) classes will sometimes include the use of props. Students will be required to purchase their own props at the direction of the instructor. Props can be castanets/palillos, fans/abanicos, shawls/mantones, skirts with tail/bata de colas, and hats/cordobes.
